I tend to use anywhere from a 14-18mm wick size depending on the vessel I’m using. If I’m using a 16 oz jar, I’ll usually go with a 16mm wick. For an 8 oz jar, I would use a 14mm wick.
I don’t usually use additives, but I have used them in the past. I generally prefer to keep my recipes simple so that the fragrance can shine. However, if I’m looking for a specific effect, I might add a small amount of essential oil or colorant.
