Delicious and Easy to Make Palmiers:Recipe

Delicious and Easy to Make Palmiers

Palmiers, also known as palm leaves or elephant ears, are one of the most beloved French pastries. They are crunchy and sweet, making them a favorite among both adults and children alike. But what sets palmiers apart from other pastries is their unique shape – they have a curved top that resembles the frond of a palm tree.

The best part about making palmiers is that they don’t require any special equipment or ingredients – just some basic pantry staples like all-purpose flour, sugar, butter, and salt. To start, you’ll need to make a simple dough using the afore-mentioned ingredients. Then the dough needs to be rolled out into an even rectangle and sprinkled with sugar before being rolled up like a cigar in order to form the leaves.

Once you’ve finished rolling up your dough, it’s time to slice it into thin strips so you can get those iconic “palmier” shapes. Just make sure not to cut too thickly or else your pastry won’t turn out right! Finally, transfer your slices onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 15 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius). Voila–your delicious palmiers are now ready to enjoy!

Palmiers REcipe:

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1/2 cup sugar

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup butter (cold, cut into cubes)

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.

3. With a pastry blender or two forks, cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. Add 3 tablespoons of cold water and stir with a spoon to form a soft dough.

5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into an even 13×9-inch (33×23 cm) rectangle about 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick.

6 Sprinkle evenly with sugar then fold in each side toward the center so it forms three layers like a business letter. Press down lightly to seal folds together.

7 Cut dough crosswise into 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thick slices.

8 Place slices onto prepared baking sheet and lightly press down in the center of each slice to form a palmier shape.

9 Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

10 Let cool on baking sheet for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

11 Enjoy!

Notes:

• You can also use cinnamon sugar instead of regular sugar if desired.

• For an extra crunchy texture, sprinkle some chopped almonds onto the dough before rolling it up into three layers and slicing it into strips.

• Store cooled palmiers in an airtight container for up to 4 days. You can also freeze them for up to 2 months. Enjoy!

Palmiers Shaping?

When shaping your palmiers, you can use either a pastry cutter or a sharp knife. Begin by rolling the dough out into an even rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Sprinkle sugar over the top of the dough and fold each side toward the center so that it forms three layers like a business letter. Then press down to seal the folds together before cutting crosswise into 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thick slices. Place them onto your prepared baking sheet and lightly press down in the center of each slice to form a palmier shape. Bake as directed and enjoy! With just a few simple steps, you’ll be able to make delicious palmiers in no time at all!

Palmiers Filligs:

Palmiers can be filled with all sorts of delicious fillings to make them even more enjoyable. For a classic filling, try mixing together some softened butter, powdered sugar, and cinnamon until it forms a paste-like consistency. Spread this mixture onto your prepared palmier slices before baking as directed. Alternatively, you could also use jams or preserves for a sweet and fruity flavor. Nutella is another great option for a chocolatey treat! Experiment with different flavors to find the perfect filling for your homemade palmiers. Enjoy!

Palmiers Serving Ideas:

There are so many ways to enjoy your freshly made palmiers! They’re perfect on their own as an afternoon snack or served alongside coffee or tea. You can also use them as the base for a decadent breakfast tart by topping with fresh fruit and a dollop of yogurt. No matter how you enjoy them, these crispy treats are sure to be a hit! Enjoy!

Chocolate Fillings:

Chocolate is always a favorite, and it’s no different with palmiers. To make chocolate fillings for your palmiers, simply melt together some semisweet or dark chocolate chips and butter in a double boiler or in the microwave. Once melted, mix together until smooth and spreadable then spoon onto your prepared palmier slices before baking as directed. For an extra special touch, top with flaky sea salt for a sweet and salty combo that can’t be beat! Enjoy!
